If you're planning a trip to Budapest and feeling overwhelmed with choosing a hostel, I'm here to help!

I stayed at eight different hostels in Budapest, including Hostel One.

This article presents my review of Hostel One Budapest, which I ranked as the second-best hostel on my best hostels list based on my personal experience.

Summary — Hostel One Budapest Review

Who is this hostel for?

  • This hostel is the perfect choice for those who enjoy a lively social atmosphere, making new friends and having a great time.

What was the best part of staying here?

  • The social environment here is simply amazing and encourages socializing in any way possible. The open-minded and relaxed people here create an unforgettable experience.

What was the worst part of staying here?

  • The showers were the worst part of my stay due to the fluctuating water temperature and poorly placed light sensors.

Did I enjoy my stay here? Would I return?

  • Yes, I have amazing memories of this place and would definitely return if my priority was to have a good time and meet interesting people from all over the world.

How much does it cost? Is it good value for money?

  • Hostel One is pricier, yet still affordable when compared to Western EU or US prices. If you value socializing and having an extroverted experience, you'll get excellent value for your money here.

Summary & Overall Impression

Hostel One Budapest is an excellent choice for those who love socializing, making friends, and partying.

Regarding cost, Hostel One might be pricier than other Budapest hostels, but you get your money's worth if you value the opportunity to socialize and have an outgoing party experience.

Location

  • Hostel One boasts a prime location in the 7th District (also called the Jewish Quarter) near the airport shuttle stop, nightlife, and city attractions.

Noise Levels

  • Noise levels are reasonable, with partying ending around 11-12 pm, ensuring a peaceful sleep.

Check-in

  • This hostel has a 24/7 front desk for easy check-in. They'll ask for ID and give you a passcard for your room.

Vibe & People

  • The place buzzes with a social atmosphere that encourages making connections and having fun.
  • The environment is vibrant, with guests being far more relaxed and open-minded than your average crowd.
  • The hostel organizes events and tours during the day (sightseeing and attractions) and night (partying, drinking games).

Room

  • I had a quiet room with ample space to move around.

Bed

  • My bed was great in many ways, with a privacy curtain, light, and socket, and it didn't make any squeaking sounds.
  • However, it was missing a spot to put my belongings at night, although certain beds (appearently) have a black item tray as seen on the photo above.

Locker

  • There are secure lockers in the room to ensure the safety of your belongings.
  • Padlocks are provided free of charge.

Bathroom

  • The only noteworthy downside was in the showers - water temperature can fluctuate unpredictably, and the thanks to a poorly placed sensor, the lights constantly turn off.

Kitchen

  • The kitchen is satisfactory, but it lacks oven. It is quite small, and if a few people get hungry at the same time, it can get crowded quickly.

Miscellaneous

Additional Secure Storage

  • There is a secure wooden storage area beneath the bed apart from the lockers.
